Curating radio feature

”Western science together with the era of technological revolution gave us a promise of eternal progression, leading to rational problem solving, and, eventually to the Truth. Now it looks like that these means have created just new sort of challenges. We are gazing at the unknown, searching for new manners how to act and determine life. Strange Echoes is grasping this time of changes trough three thematics: the future of our planet, the character of matter and the definition of death.”

As the first curator in Yle Draama department, my task was to renew production manners and pilot curatorial practices in radio feature context. The concept was to introduce artistic research and posthumanistic themes to mainstream audience.

I started building the radio feature podcast set together with fresh faces from the contemporary art world. The directors, writers and sound designers I asked to participate, have an interesting approach towards experimental working: Elina Minn, Elli Salo, Johannes Vartola, Katja Lautamatti, Kirsi Korhonen, Honkasalo-Niemi-Virtanen and Tatu Nenonen.
