Tvärminne, sound installation

Exhibited in ÖRES 2019 summer exhibition, organized by Örö Residency Center Association.

Soundscape created together with my brother, electronic artist Aku Leinikki.

Out parents are marine researchers. We spent our childhood summers on Tvärminne Zoological Station, near Hanko, the most southern spot on the Finnish continent. This station and its nature reservation surroundings were accompanied by the steel factory of Koverhar, and shooting range of Syndalen, only some kilometers away.

Tvärminne is the first draft of a sound piece, made together by step-siblings, whom have different memories and perception of the place. During our free childhood summers ,the sense of danger was always present. Either it was the threat of getting drowned, or the weight of approaching ecological catastrophe.
